We Are One Seven, LLC (One Seven) is a newly launched wealth management advisor with its headquarters in Cleveland and an additional office in Park City, Utah. The principals of the new firm include a team of four experienced financial advisors—Todd Resnick, Michael Mawby, Stuart Gertman, Bruce Greenwald—who collectively managed an estimated $600 million in assets for about 500 clients while they were at Morgan Stanley, and three principals—Ronald Gross,Richard Gross and Paul Orchosky—from an existing successful RIA, MGO Investment Advisors, LLC. Together they are developing an internal culture focused on the financial, mental and physical health of their clients, and on the advisors who serve them.

Several years ago Ron Gross, CEO of MGO Investment Advisors, a leading retirement plan consultant and investment management firm, and Todd Resnick CFP®, an advisor with Morgan Stanley, had a chance meeting and discovered that they were two minds with a similar idea. Both were increasingly dismayed by the commoditization of fees, products and services within the wirehouse world and felt there had to be a better way. That shared vision was the first step toward the creation of One Seven.

We found we shared a vision of creating an advisory business that was deeply engaged and connected with our clients’ lives,” explained Todd Resnick, who serves as President of the new company. “We wanted to interact with our clients on a deeper level than simply making a phone call when the market goes up or down, or when they have a question about a dividend or mutual fund.”

I’d been approached through the years by a number of other advisors about partnering or forming a strategic alliance, but Todd was the first one I met who also shared my entrepreneurial passion,” added Ron Gross, who has assumed the role of CEO of the new company, while continuing in that same capacity at MGO. “We know that going independent is complicated and time-consuming but our goal at One Seven is to make that whole process easier for other advisors who want to join our network.”

There is a myriad of details involved in starting an RIA, and the process of building an independent business can be a long and difficult one, particularly for an advisor trying to go it alone. That’s something the founders of One Seven learned the hard way. Now they intend to share their knowledge and experience to lessen the barriers to entering the independent space for like-minded advisors.

One Seven was created for advisors looking for an efficient way to go independent. One Seven has built a powerhouse support team including a compliance firm, a law firm and TruClarity, a firm which provides transition assistance, marketing support and back office operations. With these partnerships, One Seven feels they are well positioned to help advisors easily join their RIA.
