set to launch its lm Card aimed at helping savvy travellers save money even while they’re away, the pioneering OTA who’s been making travel more pink for 20 years, has extended its successful partnerships with Visa and Wirecard to offer a new multi-currency Visa card. The innovative financial product, known as the Visa Card, will allow travellers from next week onwards to pay in the local currency at businesses worldwide, avoiding the hassle of exchanging currency on the road. The widely-accepted Visa card will be also be quickly reloadable using the handy companion app, making it a convenient and trustworthy payment method to rely on while travelling.

The Visa card will allow experienced and novice travellers to avoid carrying cash while visiting foreign destinations, simplifying their lives as well as reducing their risk with a trusted, reliable payment tool.

Customers will be able to access their accounts using the online dashboard or on their mobiles with a slick, user-friendly app, called the lm Card, available for iOS and Android to check their balances, top up their wallets and exchange British Pounds in US Dollars or Euros at any time, whether they are lounging in the sun in Mallorca or skiing across the French Alps.

Cardholders will be able to use their Visa Card to pay in any shop worldwide where Visa cards are accepted as well as withdraw cash from Visa-branded ATMs and to complete online purchases, safe in the knowledge that they are getting better rates than most high-street bureau de change and banks as the card intelligently selects the local currency to ensure the best rate. Finally, the Visa Card will offer some exclusive voucher rewards for early adopters of the card that can be used for their next trips – with a maximum of £250 in vouchers potentially up for grabs (t&cs apply).

Sergio Signoretti, Chief Financial Officer at said, “As we celebrate our 20th anniversary this year we are delighted to announce the Visa Card which will go a long way to enriching the lives of travellers. This financial product perfectly embodies our pink brand, not only in colour but as part of our “whatever makes you pink” philosophy – which at its heart wants to enable our customers to enjoy fuss-free holidays. Now travellers no longer need to worry about converting currency in a foreign country, or whether their foreign credit card will be accepted at ATMs abroad. We look forward to cooperating further with Visa and Wirecard in developing smart and innovative travel solutions for the next twenty years and beyond.”

According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS), in 2017 UK residents spent £44.8 billion on visits overseas (a 2% increase from 2016).* And we believe that by using this card as the preferential payment method on our properties we will be able to help around 10 million monthly users of our website to save money and at the same time to gain exclusive advantages when using the card.

This extended partnership with Wirecard and Visa has been designed to meet the needs of an international travel market.

Kathrin Klausa, Head of Product Management, Sales Travel, at Wirecard adds: “As the global innovation driver for digital financial technology, it is essential to Wirecard to remove barriers when paying electronically and digitally in a foreign currency. Offering our digital solutions together with Visa and to make payments abroad easier is very exciting for us.
