They’re back together! Angus Macdonald, CEO of Hubwise, has been joined by former colleagues Amir Hakim, as Head of Propositions and Jeff Harvey-Wells, as Head of Business Development. This further strengthens the team of highly experienced and respected financial services professionals at Hubwise.
The team will be introducing more innovation and proactively addressing the constraints faced by wealth managers and advisers as they battle with operational inefficiencies, poor technology and pressure on margins. They share a common ambition: to deliver an independent platform to power any investment proposition, with automation, access to the widest investment universe and a low total cost of ownership.
The trio originally came together 15 years ago to launch OMX Securities as a disruptive force in the provision of platforms to wealth managers and stockbrokers. Their success was defined when they became one of the major players in that space. Angus eventually sold the business to a Canadian bank and established Hubwise in 2011, around the time of RDR, based on his belief that there was a better way to serve intermediaries.
Angus has almost 30 years’ experience in financial services, covering most aspects of the industry from system design and installation to establishing and running a fully regulated, outsourced clearer.
Amir has been working in the global financial services industry for more than twenty years on various customer-facing projects for a range of complex businesses including BNP Paribas Securities Services, BNY Mellon Pershing, Societe Generale Securities Services and JHC. In his role as Head of Propositions, Amir will work closely with clients, partners and other market participants to achieve Hubwise’s long term growth strategy.
Jeff also has over 20 years of experience, specialising in selling complex and high value technology, administration and custody services to a broad section of the financial services market. While at OMX Securities, Jeff helped to build a ‘material disruptor’ in the UK wealth management sector, where he was responsible for attracting some of the largest and highest profile wealth managers and retail stockbrokers to what was then a new investment platform… the challenge is to do it again.
Prior to Hubwise, Jeff helped to successfully launch and grow new franchises at two of the largest European banking groups, Societe Generale and BNP Paribas, by challenging the established service providers and models.
Amir and Jeff commented, “ We share the passion and excitement of building Hubwise to become a major player in servicing UK wealth managers and advisers, a market still poorly served. We aim to be the market-leading investment hub for a broad cross-section of financial services firms.”
‘We believe in ‘seeing technology differently’ as a company,’ says Angus, ‘but when it comes to people, why change a winning formula? It‘s great to have Amir and Jeff back on board.’
